Fitness Can Give You A Time-Defying Body, But What About Your Face?

One of the mottos of the 2000s was how the past decades have made us younger. Maybe you've heard the expression: “Today’s 60 is the past 40.” This expression, in its simplest terms, means that an individual who has reached the age of 60 feels like they are 40 years old and can lead their life as if they were 40 years old. What has made this possible is undoubtedly the fitness and wellness trends that are just beginning to make their way into our society. I have been a member of one of the first sports complexes in Ankara for more than 20 years and I do not remember a time when morning hours were this crowded. Moreover, almost half of the members frequenting the club in the morning hours are over 50 years old.

Men and women who exercise regularly are physically challenging time. They are active, productive and social. As our bodies age, our metabolism slows down, our muscle mass decreases, and we accumulate more adipose tissue because we hardly change our eating habits inherited from our youth. While regular exercise increases muscle mass, it reduces fat mass. Since the skin does not get loose, we can have a tighter, fuller and better shaped body instead of a saggy and wrinkled body. If you still haven't heard the name "Dr. Jeffry Life", I suggest you run a search on Google. I'm sure he will make you reconsider what you thought you knew about the aging body. This 77-year-old man assumed his incredible physique, which knocks spots off 25-year-old boys, after the age of 70 - another element of surprise.

As for our face, the threads are not that much in our hands. Of course, living a healthy and stress-free life also has positive effects on facial aging. Regular exercise can slow down some mechanisms that are effective in facial aging, as it prevents large fluctuations in body weight, increases the level of endogenous growth hormone and endogenous anabolic hormones in the blood and reduces stress. However, almost none of the mechanisms in facial aging are reversible with regular exercise. Gravity, loss of volume, surface atrophy and bone atrophy unfortunately occur at the same rate in individuals who exercise and those who do not.

In short, you can have a body that defies time by doing regular exercise, following a healthy nutrition and maintaining a good hormonal balance. But what about your face?

We always explain how a holistic approach is crucial in facial rejuvenation procedures. In a patient whose face is done but whose neck is excluded, the neck looks older than it is and catches more attention, and because the face is disproportionately younger, it becomes more obvious that the person is “operated”. Similarly, getting the face done but ignoring the periorbital area and the forehead leads to a deformity called "young face - old forehead". A similar paradox arises when the body looks much younger than the face - a problem of "holism".

Most of our facial rejuvenation patients are selected from among individuals who experience this paradox. This is a group of patients that I treat with the greatest pleasure in my facial rejuvenation practice, as they tolerate surgery most easily, have a relatively low rate of complications and recover very quickly. Moreover, since they lead an active and social life, they do justice to their new face and enjoy it.

Today, facial rejuvenation procedures have ceased to be a “retirement project” that only adorns the dreams of older people. Following the development of modern deep plane facelift surgeries, in which the process of resuming work and social life is reduced to 7-10 days, facial rejuvenation surgery has started to get greater attention from middle-aged individuals who work and lead an active life. From my point of view, facial rejuvenation surgery is not a treatment for a deformity, but a modern component of a physically and mentally healthy aging process. Our aim is to ensure healthier, more active, more productive, happier and more beautiful individuals in the aging process.

Take good care... of yourself and your beauty.
